IT'S A MICROBE'S WORLD!

2006

We enter the world of microbes exploring their pivotal role in creating our world. With the majority (99%) not yet having been cultured, most are still unexplored by science. There, babbling in their world of genetic chimaera’s swapping codes amongst themselves and even plants, they are extending their diversity further. Bioactive compounds within opens an arena of microbial genomics where engineered microbes could overcome antibiotic resistance. Later, a postlunch discussion of our gut flora, home to trillions of bacteria, provides insight into functional foods and finally the prospects of how molecular science is revolutionizing our understanding of infection and vaccine technology.
