The European Union might extend its conditional ban on imports of U.S. maize if it found more products contaminated by an illegal gene-altered maize, the EU's food safety chief said on Tuesday. Earlier this month Europe blocked imports of maize animal feed and grain from the United States unless there was proof they were untainted by Bt-10, a genetically modified (GMO) maize made by Swiss agrochemicals group Syngenta.
