Walking the Line :: An interdisciplinary workshop for artists and scientists/technical specialists.

2006

Upon arrival we had to select the coloured label appropriate for our disciplines.  In my case, being an artist, it was the red label.  Surprisingly, I was the only artists in the workshop. After the normal introduction to what we do and our interest in attending such a workshop we moved on to the question of how we see ourselves (is that different to what we do?).

Pairing up, my partner, a biochemist, and myself proved to be a rather interesting combination.  Swapping our prepared paragraph on how we perceived ourselves and our day to day work with a brief discussion we introduced the group to what our partners did.

We were then given more time to elaborate on our research and get to know each others interest – and based on this we were instructed to draw how we perceived our partners.  This led to a mini exhibition and some snacks.

Below is my partners drawing of me during our brief engagement together during the workshop.
